Dollhouse Wallpaper
Dollhouses are a popular children's toy, and can also be a great way
for adults to connect with their creative side. Children's dollhouses
must necessarily be sturdy, and not contain small parts that could
break or prove to be a hazard. Dollhouses for adults or older children
are more of a hobby than a toy. Often these houses can be highly
intricate.
A child's dollhouse
will often have a side or part of the roof cut away. Children's
dollhouses are toys and therefore are designed to be played with by
children. Without easy access to the inside, a child's dollhouse would
not be much fun. A dollhouse for adults may have a side cut away, but this is for viewing of the details
inside, so the openings are often a different size and shape and placed
more strategically. A hobby dollhouse may also simply feature a
removable roof or other section, so that it looks completely realistic.
Part of creating a realistic interior to your dollhouse could include dollhouse wallpaper.
Wallpaper is a common way to decorate full sized houses, but there are
a few differences. Wallpaper designed for a real home must be sturdy
enough to handle the wear and tear of being in contact with people,
must stick to the wall even if there is a relatively large change in
the temperature or humidity.
Dollhouse wallpaper may be thinner,
since it will be used on a small scale and endures virtually no wear.
Thinner wallpaper is easier to apply in small spaces, and bends around
corners better. Since dollhouses don't have ovens, showers, and real
people respiring in them, you don't have to worry as much about the
adhesive sticking well regardless of the temperature or humidity.
Using real wallpaper for dollhouses may look odd if it has a definite pattern. Since a dollhouse is small, the pattern must be to scale. If it's a solid color, you won't have to worry about this.
