To build a miniature dollhouse you have to understand how the scale
works. The 1:12 scale is only a 12th the size of the real size of an
item. In other words, one inch equals 12 inches and if the scale is
1:12, the actual dollhouse would be twelve inches tall. A miniature
dollhouse is like a real house only it is just super small. They have
all the details of a larger one. They are very beautiful and a great
hobby to work on, but if you are going to build one you must be sure
all pieces are cut to a precise measurement on the scale of 1:12 in
order for it to go together correctly.
Miniature dollhouses have been built for centuries children live
them and so do some adults. In Europe, the miniature dollhouses were
built with very detailed parts and they were for adults to look at and
the children were not allowed to touch or play with them at all. One of
the reasons for this is that there are so many small pieces that a
small child could choke on. They are built on the 1:12 scale and are
very beautiful and detailed down to every piece of furniture in them.
Many are even furnished with the household pets.
The 1:12 scale is still used on many of the modern miniature
dollhouses but there are also some other scales used for other
dollhouses. In all, the 1:12 scale is the easiest scale to remember.
These baby houses as they are sometimes called are very attractive.
