Traveling to Crater Lake in Oregon along Highway 62 heading East, we pass through the little town Eagle Point. About a mile further on we see an Old Wood Homestead which was one of the first buildings constructed in Eagle Point, Oregon.
The Fishing Hunting Blog tells us the story of Marvin Sylvester Wood who was born in New York in 1836. After fighting in the Civil War, Marvin and his brother Dennis traveled west and settled in Oregon. They filed a homestead claim for the land just outside of Eagle Point in 1869 and built a cabin.
